Even though there were elections for a spot in the Board of Directors recently, we have another open spot. It is for that reason that we are holding elections again! A new round, new chances and new candidates. The voting starts on Tuesday, 12:00pm (noon) UTC.
The Nerdfighteria Board of Directors wishes best of luck to all candidates!
Every user registered with IRC nickserv was able to register to the elections, so here is the final list of candidates.

Why should people vote for you?
Well, I have been in exile after the drama-queenish government of YourPantsia hurt my feelings in numerous ways. So in exile, I have thought about life and its meaning. And I’ve built a horrible death-ray. But mostly I’m here for to make a change. To make the chat a better place. To destroy the status quo, because the status, is not quo.
But in all non-evil seriousness, I love the chat and intend to make the Board a happier bunch. Big hearts, big hearts.
What are your goals in being a board member?
I aim to improve the morale, make people happier. Some people take this place very, very seriously. It’s not bad to be serious every once in a while, but we kinda need to learn to enjoy the little things in life. Confess your love, travel to the places you want to go to, build the death ray, do whatever makes you happy.
My goals are to make the chat a positive and a happy place. I can do it, trust me.
Why is the Nerdfighteria Network Board of Directors important, in your opinion?
Because they have the power. The decision-making power, no other powers. That’s for IRC-ops, and there’s nothing we can do about that.
BoD has all the power, but is often afraid to use it. They feel like this little thing they’ve built for the community, will be perfect because the overall image of the community is a good one. But there are bad apples and it’s the BoD that picks them out. BoD is really important for the community.
Why do you want to be part of the Nerdfighteria Network Board of Directors?
As I said above, (I’m trusting the BoD won’t change the order of questions here) the BoD picks the bad apples from the bunch. I’m an amazing personality reader, and that might make me seem mean at times. I’m really good at pointing out the bad apples, thought at times I make mistakes, but I’m really good at accepting my mistakes.
I love this chat and I want to make it a better place, for all of us. Without the death ray.

Why should people vote for you?
I will be the first to admit that I know nothing about programming, and will *not* be able to assist the board in technical issues and improvements. I will, however, do my best to employ my personal policy whenever a decision is to be made: I will be as open-minded as possible in every decision and will consider both sides thoroughly before making up my mind. In issues concerning IRC users, I will be sure to hear both sides of the story (or offense) before deciding on or aiding in the decision of the appropriate action. I will listen without jumping to conclusions or blaming, and I will get to the root of the problem so that it not only will be resolved, it will not happen again.
What are your goals in being a board member?
My goals are to be open and honest with the issues concerning Nerdfighteria Network while also being fair and reasonable. I want to help to improve the network in any way I can and work together with the board to do so. I want Nerdfighteria Network to be a happy, healthy atmosphere for everyone. I want to work with the board to resolve issues quickly and painlessly so that the IRC and the Board will be a calm environment where things can become even more awesome.
Why is the Nerdfighteria Network Board of Directors important, in your opinion?
The Board of Directors is important to the Nerdfighteria Network because it is an organized board of people with set responsibilities for running the IRC. Although there have been bumps in the road, the BOD is there to make things run as smoothly as possible by making it a safe, secure place for nerdfighters to connect with each other and frolic in nerdfightery. It is also important because there need to be fair people able to see both sides of an issue in order to correct it, whether it be an overall problem or a problem with a specific person, and by having a democratic board instead of having moderators give other people moderating power, it is easier to ensure fair and kind people are in the position of making decisions.
Why do you want to be part of the Nerdfighteria Network Board of Directors?
As I said before, I want to be a part of the Board of Directors to make the Nerdfighteria Network the best it can be. Through fairness, respect, and open-mindedness, I hope to achieve this with the other board members. I want to be on the board to ensure that the IRC will be a fun, safe place for nerdfighters to connect, build relationships, learn and grow as people and as nerdfighters, with as little drama as possible. 😉

Why should people vote for you?
People should vote for me because I’m honest and blunt but try my best to be fair about situations concerning the Nerdfighters of the IRC (and the Universe).
What are your goals in being a board member?
Decrease IRC suck :3
Why is the Nerdfighteria Network Board of Directors important, in your opinion?
Because it’s fairer to run this community within a community as a democracy. We need people who will keep the balance and keep the order (for the most part)
Why do you want to be part of the Nerdfighteria Network Board of Directors?
Because I feel like I will be good for the job and because I feel like I can contribute to the IRC more this way.

Why should people vote for you?
My name is Jascha Schmitt, and I’m a 23 year old student from Germany. As a member in several Boards of the university in Stuttgart (such as the board of the faculty) I consider myself to be rather experienced in decision-making and finding compromises. I know very well, that it can take a lot of patience and creativity to find good solutions to a given problem.
Although I don’t talk that much, I’m regularly online in the IRC, hence I’m available for questions and discussion most of the time.
What are your goals in being a board member?
In my opinion, rules are a necessary evil, for protecting the users from rudeness and harm. Each regulation is a constraint of the freedom and therefor should be reflected accordingly. From my point of view it is the task of the BoD to ensure the greatest possible freedom of all users in the network but also provide a protected environment in the Internet.
Why is the Nerdfighteria Network Board of Directors important, in your opinion?
I think, decisions relating to the Network can’t be made by one person. As we have seen in the past, that leads inevitably to argument and unhappiness. In my opinion, the current system works quite good. A relatively big group can always provide more points of view and represents the whole group of users much better. That applies especially in a community that has such a big cultural diversity, as the Nerdfighteria Network.
Why do you want to be part of the Nerdfighteria Network Board of Directors?
This network and the community around it became a constant part of my life a while ago. It is a place where I can meet people, share my experiences and basically be who I am, without being judged immediately. I want to take a more active part in this community. I’d like to give something back to the community and contribute in the shaping of the Network.
