What are your goals in being a board member? What changes, if any, would you like to make?
“World Domination.
Aside from that, the existing Directors are doing a pretty swell job.”
Why is the Nerdfighteria Board of Directors important, in your opinion?
“They’re like crime fighters. Only not really.
Also, they’re kind of like the glue that holds the Popsicle stick sailboat together.”
How do you think problems with people in the chat should be handled? (multiple choice question)
As soon as there is a problem, kick the person out. Doing so will prevent more problems from occuring. , Kindly ask the person to stop what is causing the issue and warn them that they might be kicked if they continue., Consult the other board members to decide together how the problem should be handled. , Ask everyone what happened and read the scrollback to gather as much information as possible to make an informed decision on what should be done.
Explaining the reasoning for the answer(s) you chose.
“The severity of misconduct can differ greatly. Under certain circumstances, immediate action might be necessary.
For other (less severe) offenses, a warning should be issued to let the offender know their behavior is not appreciated. Should the problem continue, other board members should be consulted to best decide the best solution for the problem.”

What are your goals in being a board member? What changes, if any, would you like to make?
“To be honest, I don’t think much needs changing. When I first wandered in here from the ning maybe 4 months ago, I was greeted warmly and brought in to the group here. Nobody asked me who I was or what I believed. They simply accepted me for who I was, and the longer I stayed the more I enjoyed it. I got to know everyone better, and to be honest, every time I think back, I simply can’t accept that I was here for such a short amount of time. This chat has become an integral part of my life, and you guys are so awesome I wouldn’t want it any other way. So what do I think this chat needs? What am I going to do for the denizens of #YourPants? I want to make everyone feel the way I felt when I first joined. I know theres been a lot of drama recently, and no matter how many dramas you enjoy watching, being a part of drama is never fun. I hope that I will be able to help tie people together so that we all understand each other better and can avoid the ugly drama that can threaten to pull us apart. If there is one thing I could change though it would be to have the board try to arrange IRL meet ups. From my time here it seems to me that while we do have members from just about everywhere, we do have higher concentrations in some places, and I think it would be cool if board members helped plan opportunities for said concentrations of people to meet.”
Why is the Nerdfighteria Board of Directors important, in your opinion?
“As I mentioned in my answer to the previous question, #YourPants is all about creating a kind and non-judgmental environment that everyone can freely participate in without fear of retribution. While generally we have been pretty good at regulating this ourselves sometimes we need a higher power to step in. That, in my opinion, is the role of The Board of Directors. Thankfully the need for that kind of intervention doesn’t often arise, and during the rest of the time the Board members, in my opinion, are supposed to be kind, engaging, warm, and welcoming members of the chat.”

Doing so will prevent more problems from occuring. , Kindly ask the person to stop what is causing the issue and warn them that they might be kicked if they continue., Consult the other board members to decide together how the problem should be handled. , Allow the person to continue; after all, he or she is just having fun., Ask everyone what happened and read the scrollback to gather as much information as possible to make an informed decision on what should be done.
Explaining the reasoning for the answer(s) you chose.
“Honestly, all of these are the appropriate response in one case or another. Usually I would be in favor of reading scrollbacks and trying to gather as much information about an event as possible to make and informed decision, but unfortunately doing that takes time, and you don’t always have time to sit around and get the most accurate judgment on what happened. If the disruption is in good humor and everyone realizes that it is not serious I would allow them to continue. After all, #YourPants is all about being a helpful, fun, and supportive group of people. However, were it that the perpetrator was bullying (whats all this crap about cyberbullying? its bullying all the same. Stop calling it a new name) someone or doing something of that sort I would tell them to stop or even kick them if the situation called for it, but that would really be a last resort. However, I think that just kicking them is not OK. Whether it be before kicking them, or afterwards in PM, the perpetrator should be talked to to make sure he knows what he did is wrong, and by understanding why he did what he did hopefully come to an understanding that would allow him to return to #YourPants. I also realize that on my own I may be biased or simply unable to come to a decision or conclusion on my own, and that sometimes the rest of the board needs to be consulted before acting. All of this is important because as I mentioned earlier, we are all about building a strong community that is accepting of all and judgmental of none, even if it is easier to simply say ʺHe broke the rules and therefore he shall be banishedʺ ”

What are your goals in being a board member? What changes, if any, would you like to make?
“My goal as a board of director of the IRC would be to make yourpants a more welcoming place. I would help newcomers feel more welcome and would help people who felt not a part of the chat feel comfortable so they could chat with us.”
Why is the Nerdfighteria Board of Directors important, in your opinion?
“The board of directors is important because they make sure everything runs smoothly. For example they look to see how a recent band made could be avoided in the future. Also they make sure everyone feels welcomed on the chat.”

Explaining the reasoning for the answer(s) you chose.
“I think I would kindly ask the person first so they can realize they doing something and get a chance to fix their behavior. If they continue I would kick them.
If it was a sitution were I could I do this I would ask everyone about what was going. I would do this to see all sides of problem before kicking some. You should never just kick someone because sometimes this can lead to more problems than you started with.”
